Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. We keep it within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive standard technical details when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Your device type and operating system
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Browser type and version
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic patterns, such as which pages receive visits and where a session ends. You may block cookies through browser settings, although doing so can change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
We use collected technical and submitted information only for the operating, routing, measurement, troubleshooting, and advertising purposes described here:
- Sending a search request to the selected partner service
- Diagnosing faults and correcting technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining its performance
- Understanding which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Philadelphia County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to custodians such as the Office of Judicial Records, the Philadelphia Department of Records, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Public Website. Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. §§ 67.101 et seq., governs access to qualifying agency records, while 18 Pa.C.S. § 9121 governs criminal-history dissemination by the state repository. Neither turns this private site into an official custodian. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes shown on this website. Information entered there is handled under the selected provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. We do not control a partner's retention, processing, or disclosure practices, so review its terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Philadelphia government departments, Pennsylvania courts, state agencies, legal-aid groups, or outside search tools. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across websites to select ads. Their systems, rather than ours, conduct that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process queries submitted to their tools
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order compels disclosure
- Advertising networks that place ads on the site
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary security measures to protect information in our care. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor provided information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Privacy and consumer-protection rights vary by residence and by the law that applies. Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law concerns public agency records, and 18 Pa.C.S. § 9121 concerns state criminal-history dissemination; neither creates a general right to records held by this private website. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of information associated with you
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Object to certain processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. Any revised version will appear here with a new effective date, and continued site use will be subject to the posted policy.
Effective date: August 8, 2026
